It has an ever-shifting date,
This holiday, here in the States
The secret, then, is to remember:
Final Thursday in November
That is when Thanksgiving falls
The day before the shopping malls
Fling open all the doors and say
"Behold! It's nearly Christmas Day!"
But I digress. Besides, you might
Live elsewhere, and if that is right
Whatever
happened yesterday
Had no impact in any way
No visitors, no hue and cry
No sixth or seventh slice of pie,
No gatherings, or football watching,
Turkey fails or stuffing botchings
But if you hang your hat within
The USA, you've likely been
Participating, just like me
In all of Thursday's revelry
We did not travel, but stayed put
For once, and we did not set foot
Outside the city limits,
so
Today there is no place to go
No driving home, or flying back
No plans to make or clothes to pack
The books and the guitars are here
Plus leftovers, for which, two cheers
So have some turkey, have a drink
But if you need something to think
About, here is a little trick
For adding pentatonic licks
Into, let's say, an eight-bar blues
The idea being, first you choose
A single phrase you
can replace
With something new, over the bass
To see and hear how, you can go
And watch the latest video
I've posted on my channel. Where?
The link below will take you there:
Adding Pentatonic Licks To An Eight Bar Blues
Until next time, I'll keep it brief
Now, lead
me to the lettuce leaf
