Good evening. It has been a while
So let us speak of fingerstyle
Is it a genre? A technique?
You must admit: while hardly chic
There is one thing of which we're sure:
It has a certain deep allure
There is a vibe, there is a tone
It lets you jam all on your own
The chords are cool, the notes are bent
The repertoire is excellent
It's I IV V,
but also not
Depending on what song you've got
And how you choose to play it, too
Which, best of all, is up to you
Because, and here is what I vote:
You do not have to play by rote
Entirely. One can devise
These elements that bring surprise
Like turnarounds and licks and such
And vamps, though here I only touch
The surface of a great fixation
Also, there's improvisation
But that is
beyond the scope
Of what I'm here to say. I hope
To just remind you that you might
Still seize the moment now, tonight
And sign up for October while
New lessons in the Fingerstyle

Bass. Join now, and you'll be in
Tomorrow, when it all begins
