And now, answers to a couple of questions I've received about this Saturday's upcoming Blue Note Blues workshop:
Question #1: "I would love to take the workshop, but I'm not free this Saturday. Can I sign up anyway and watch the class later?"
Absolutely. Everyone who signs up for the workshop will have access to a replay of the entire class, whether or not they
attend the actual live stream this Saturday.
In fact, that access is good for an entire year after the workshop, so you'll have plenty of time to revisit all of the material even after the class is over.
Question #2: "How is this workshop different from the Bebop For Beginners class?"
Bebop For Beginners started with the kinds of scales, phrasing and resolutions typically
used by jazz musicians on the blues, before presenting various examples of licks and solos you could create over the jazz/blues changes using those tools.
Blue Note Blues comes at the same material from the opposite direction: this time, we'll start with four twelve-bar solos tabbed out from one of Grant Green's most enduring sessions, break down what's going on in each chorus, and examine exactly how each lick works with the chords it's played
over.
That way, when we do talk about the scale choices, phrasing and chord substitutions involved, you'll know why those things matter and how to use them to come up with licks of your own that work the same way as the ones you've just learned.
Registration is still open for this weekend's class! Sign up at the link below:

And if you missed it last Friday, I did a whole Youtube lesson on one of the Grant Green licks we'll be looking at in more detail during the workshop:
