So here is a question that comes up almost anytime I find myself teaching Freddie Green chord voicings:
"How can I apply these to playing fingerstyle blues? "
This Saturday's upcoming class is more about learning the chords themselves, and a step-by-step method for applying them to common blues and jazz progressions. So I'll be presenting the material more from a comping /
strumming point of view in the workshop itself.
But it's a pretty excellent question, and in fact I use these three-note voicings all the time when I play fingerstyle blues. I've even written a couple of instrumental tunes based almost entirely on Freddie Green voicings; they're that useful and flexible as a way to get around the fingerboard.
So while fingerstyle applications are beyond the scope of Saturday's class, I thought it would be fun to do a short
live stream on Youtube this Friday to talk specifically about the fingerstyle side of Freddie Green chords.
Join me tomorrow, January 31st, at 10:30am Central time on my Youtube channel:

And to learn your way around these voicings in a more thorough,
step-by-step way, on songs like "Trouble In Mind," "See See Rider" and, of course, "I Got Rhythm," sign up for this Saturday's workshop at the link below:
